Rants

who really are our friends?

Tell you what, almost everyone around you except you can see your fake friend, you know the one who uses your fallbacks as a source of entertainment for themselves? Yeah, they’re not good people and most people around you see them, so when someone mentions something about them to you, maybe start questioning your friendship yeah?

Don’t be like Mark Darcy (that’s what we’re going to call the Main Charecter here). So anyway just because Daniel Cleaver (the fake friend obviously) would listen to him when he would rant about his hardships, or would absolutely never correct him if Mark did something wrong, he thought Daniel was his best friend. Little did Mark know that Daniel had other friends and would use Mark’s Fallbacks as a source of conversation starters when he hung out with them.

But as Mark’s closest and longest friend and never liking Daniel as a person since day one, how would you tell him to be aware of his Fakest Fake Friend. You’d obviously hear, “You’re saying that because you don’t like him, this is about you not me”, from Mark. To add to it Daniel has a wife, let’s call her Natasha. I disliked her too, there was just something about these two, always at every gathering, always knowing everyone’s business, and when Natasha asked me for coffee once, I dodged the conversation faster than the road runner.

It wasn’t until Mark took me to hang out with them both once and said, “I like hanging out with them” that I thought maybe I misjudged them? That was the day Mark had lost his job. We got to their house and while I was filled with worry and dread for him, our beloved Natasha & Darcy were merely curious. “Tell us, Tell us, what happened?” both said almost together. In that moment, my eyes widened, No, are you okay Mark or How are you feeling Mark, none of that. and How The Hell Couldn’t Mark See All This? Would it be me overreacting if I pointed this out to him? obviously he wouldn’t believe me.

That’s when I got to thinking, who really are our friends? How do we know if this person means well for me or am I just a source of entertainment for him? I’d rather have an indifferent friend who doesn’t care about my business and just wants to spend time with me than who wants to know everything about me. It’s like those callers who are so concerned about your bank account being barred, they ask for your credit card details ever so smoothly, quite a few people don’t even realise they’ve already given up their details.

Anyway, that was my rant for today. What are your thoughts about these people, am I actually being overdramatic? I really need to know.
